Ride Description
Along the way to Los Alamos, we will make a quick stop for a group photo at one of the overlooks of the Valles Caldera National Preserve off NM-4 (the Preserve’s website: Valles Caldera National Preserve (U.S. National Park Service)).
I anticipate arriving in Los Alamos around 11:30 am. I recommend having lunch first and then visiting the Bradbury Science Museum at your leisure.
As mentioned above, lunch will be at the Pajarito Brewpub and Grill restaurant located at 614 Trinity Dr. (ph. 505-662-8877; website: HOME | Pajarito Brew Pub & Grill). The TTHOG activity officers will contact the restaurant to make sure they can accommodate the group (estimated anywhere between 15 and 25 people). The restaurant is part of a shopping center so there should be plenty of parking.
For those interested in visiting the Bradbury Science Museum, the same is located in 1450 Central Ave., about 1/3 of a mile northwest of the restaurant (ph. 505-667-4444; website: Bradbury Science Museum | Los Alamos National Laboratory; free admission). Directions from the Pajarito Brewpub: get back to NM-502 heading west, take a right (north) on 15th Street, cross Central Avenue, and the museum should be on your first right. There should be plenty of parking available.
Kick stands down is at the Pajarito Brewpub. The ride back is on your own (small riding groups are likely to form). If fuel is needed for the return trip, there are few gas stations in Los Alamos: Shell Station at 2591 Trinity Dr.; Smith’s Fuel Center at 1239 Trinity Dr., Speedway at 3701 Arkansas Ave.
